Girls Summer Camp

Get ready for the summer adventure of a lifetime!! At Camp Arbutus Hayo-Went-Ha, young women and girls will experience fun and adventure in beautiful surroundings while developing lifelong friendships and memories.

Campers will enjoy the great variety of activities that we offer daily. The morning schedule allows campers to work together on many of the offered activities as a cabin unit. This time is also used to teach all campers about the camping equipment, including usage and safety, before their trips. The campers also become oriented with maps and practice for their adventure. Through this experience, a camper will develop an understanding of the individual responsibility each person has to the group.
The afternoon allows each camper to individually select any one of the following activities: sailing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, arts and crafts, archery, nature studies, soccer, ultimate frisbee, GAGA, tennis, basketball, newspaper, drama and dance. We emphasize Judeo-Christian values in our daily living and follow the four core values of the YMCA-- Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in all that we do.

Ropes Course

High adventure activities include a 38-foot high climbing tower offered to campers of all ages. The four-walled tower offers the camper an opportunity to progress to a more challenging and difficult level during her stay at camp. The ropes course is also an exciting and popular program area. All 6th grade and older campers have an opportunity to participate, challenging themselves in a unique and exciting way. After ascending the Jacobs ladder, twelve challenging obstacles await before the thrilling zip line decent!

Climbing Tower

Our 38-foot climbing tower provides personal challenge opportunities for both the beginner and the advanced climber. Climbers will have access to 4 routes with two overhangs supplementing their adventures.

Low Initiatives

These activities are a set of group building elements at ground level. The goal of low initiatives is to present the group with a series of challenges that enable individuals to create trust within the group and focus on positive communication, while fostering a caring and mutually supportive environment in which participants learn to take on new challenges together.

Equestrian Program

Camp Arbutus Hayo-Went-Ha takes great pride in its horse-riding program! Experienced, certified equestrian staff are on hand to provide campers with riding lessons and lead trail rides over the 80 acres of established trails. Equestrian riders will also learn about horse care and barn management. Lessons are taught either outdoors or indoors in our arena or riding area, and are designed for different skill levels. Staff will teach both English and western riding. Camp provides protective helmets for safety in all horse riding programs.  Campers can sign up for a designated 2-week equestrian camp program.  Riding lessons are available for campers signed up for camp programs other than the equestrian program.  The minimum number of lessons is 3 and the maximum number of lessons is 6 per camper per session.  The cost for 3 lessons is $100.00 and the cost for 6 lessons is $200.00.
